Effective Listening on a Date

On dates, many people can be anxious about whether the other person finds them attractive or interesting. This may result in you trying too hard to impress and telling too much about yourself (this goes for men and women). You may notice this when you are thinking about your reply to your date’s comments and ignoring most of what they are saying. If this is the case, you are not making a connection and they can feel it unconsciously. They leave the date wondering what was off and may not feel comfortable asking you out again.
If you catch yourself getting into your head instead of being in the moment, take a pause and relax. Allow your date to impress you. As you focus on their words, facial expressions and become present to them, you will be sending an unconscious signal that you are being with them. They will want to see you again because they feel connected with you. Anytime you have a shared experience with someone, a bond can be created instantly.
